We are looking forward to meeting you.

This page contains important information about your first consultation with us. Please read it carefully.

What is the purpose of an initial consultation?

An initial consultation gives you a chance to get to know us and the areas of law we practise in. We will ask you some questions to get a high level idea of your matter, which we will use to give you general advice about:

  • Whether you are likely to have a case or claim

  • What the strengths and weaknesses of your case or claim might be

  • What options might be available to you

You will also have an opportunity to ask us questions, which we will answer as best as we can with the information we have.

An initial consultation is not exhaustive. We will provide you with our best general advice based on the small, high level amount of information we can obtain during the consultation. As your matter develops, and further information becomes available to us, our advice may change.

How much does an initial consultation cost?

An initial consultation costs $200 (excluding GST). We will issue an invoice after the initial consultation, which is payable within 14 days. This is a discounted fixed fee. It is payable regardless of whether you choose to proceed or not.

What obligations do I have after an initial consultation?

You do not have any obligation to proceed after an initial consultation. The discounted fixed fee covers our time.

What happens after an initial consultation?

We will send you an estimate of our fees to proceed to the next step. You can then decide whether you want to proceed to the next step or not.

Time limits

Some cases or claim types have time limits. Some of those time limits are very short - for example, in the case of a dismissal, some claims must be brought within 21 days of your dismissal. If you think you might be at risk of going over a time limit before you meet with us, please call us.

Notetaking

We use an AI-powered notetaker during our meetings. By joining a meeting with us, you consent to the use of the AI-powered notetaker.
